Warming and sharpening — kindles appetite.

Salty · Lavana

Moistening and stimulating — aids digestion.

Pungent · Katu

Hot and penetrating — clears Kapha.

Bitter · Tikta

Cooling and detoxifying — calms Pitta.

Astringent · Kashaya

Drying and toning — firms and contracts.
